- What Makes You Unique:
- When I am not working on the new company or out helping individuals, families and small businesses obtain affordable access to the legal system and identity theft protection, my passion is working with raptors. During migration, I capture and band migrating raptors as they pass through the Marin Headlands. My most memorable bird is a Northern Goshawk, because there have only been 5 captured in the entire banding program since the 1980's. Also, capturing a Northern Harrier was also a thrill since not many harriers are caught during a season. I finally caught a Red Shoulder but still looking for my peregrine!

- What is your biggest business challenge?
- My biggest business challenge is finding enough time to run two businesses. Oh, alright...it is not finding the time. The time is always there. It is MANAGING the time! Now, that is a challenge!
- Who Are Your Strategic Partners:
- My strategic partners are varied. For my Pre-Paid Legal business 1) Any HR people or benefit brokers who would like to add legal services and identity theft protection to their employee packages at no cost to the employer; 2) Companies that want their employees trained (for free) in the current identity theft laws to help prevent identity breaches; 3) Business coaches or any coaches working with individuals or families or small businesses who want to incorporate affordable access to the legal system in their plans; 4) Realtors and mortgage brokers, whose clients need document reviews and legal advice; 5) Essentially anyone who wants affordable access to the legal system and identity theft protection!
For the Our Little Books business 1) Business coaches who want to offer an unique marketing tool to their clients; 2) Brick and mortar stores that sell books or gifts; 3) Business owners who want to publish their own little book either as a business marketing tool, or as their own personal book.

- Yes. My book, The Little Book of Identity Theft, was published by my own company, Our Little Books. In fact, that business was started to publish the Identity Theft book and then expanded into many other fields. Amazing where life leads you when you least expect it!

Just an FYI for Businesses- Red Flags Rule Enforcement Postponed for Six Months
The Red Flags Rule that was to go into effect on November 1st, 2008 has been postponed until May 1, 2009. This Rule required financial institutions and creditors with applicable accounts to have identity theft prevention programs in place to identity, detect, and respond to patterns, practices, or specific activities that could indicate identity theft. Potential penalties include jail time and huge fines.

What Personal Information am I Required to Give to Merchants When Paying by Credit Card?
You know the situation. You are purchasing an item in a store and you give the sales clerk your credit card. The sales clerk now wants to see your driver’s license to prove that you are you and writes down your DOB and driver’s license number. Do you have to give them that information? After all, the clerk now has your credit card number AND with the information on your driver’s license, they have enough information to perpetrate an identity theft.

Well, we all know that it’s tax season, but what we sometimes forget is that it is also the season for scammers trying to steal our identity.
