"Wine Business Insight is a new online publication from Lewis Perdue who founded (and later sold) Wine Business Communications, the largest wine industry publications group in North America.
"I missed the business and, at the constant urging of many in the industry, jumped back in about two weeks ago," said Perdue.
The site is still evolving and will move to a part-free and part-premium model in a month or so.
This is a _trade_ publication and thus is interested in business, finance, and other topics of interest to those owning or running a winery, vineyard, supplier to the wine industry and other associated with that.
This isn't a consumer pub.
Wine is my focus. NOT spirits or beer. I do cover companies (like Diageo or Constellation brands) who make/sell/market beer and spirits in addition to wine.
I'm looking for article ideas on a constant basis. New products, new services, new developments, sales, deals, mergers, bankruptcies etc.
Also of interest are government legislation and regulation at the state and federal levels, alcohol taxes, import/export statistics, scientific research about health effects.
THE TEST: will it affect the bottom line of a winery, vineyard or their suppliers? If "yes," then it fits.
For example, in the next month, I'll be covering the drop in vineyard and winery real estate prices, consumers moving toward lower-priced wines and/or cutting back wine altogether. Related to this are financing, credit lines and the like.
I am really, really looking for solid, breaking news and insights going beyond the news release.
Deadlines? Constant. Publication date: most of my waking hours (Pacific time).
If in doubt, go ahead and email me the info. I'll let you know if it's on target. I'm not easily offended.
After all I was in the PR biz myself in a previous life (managing director for Manning, Selvage & Lee and my own tech PR/marketing firm afterwards.)
